We are in the computer age. Virtually every occupation in the world has an interface with computers. From the microprocessor under the hood of your automobile to the larger scale systems used by Congress to formulate new laws, we all are affected in our daily lives by computers. Never before in history has any single endeavor grown so fast or become so universally accepted. Because our society is increasingly dependent on computers, there are many opportunities for those with the necessary computer skills. The U.S. Department of Labor stresses that the new jobs becoming available in today's economy are predominately in the areas of technology and computers, requiring at least two years of post-high school education. Related surveys clearly indicate that future computer science graduates can expect to be among those earning the top five highest salaries.
If you are interested in this dynamic and exciting career field, or if you just want to enhance your computer skills, we at Santa Barbara City College are here to help you succeed. Classes, from introductory to advanced topics, are designed to provide general education, transfer and occupational training.
